Day 1 Aug 22 Arrival

Arrival at KEF International airport

Private transfer will pick up the group and take you to your 4 star accommodation in Reykjavík city center. Estimated arrival time TBD

Day 2 Aug 23 Free Day and Food Tour

Enjoy Reykjavík at your own, you can use the time to collect your marathon equipment before your food tour. At 16:00 the group will go on a group food tour. On the tour you will have the chance to try the delicious free roaming Icelandic lamb that every Icelander grows up loving, homemade Icelandic ice cream from a secret family recipe, local cheese tasting, the rooted tradition Skyr, a hot dog from the famous Icelandic hot dog stand, an amazing seafood cuisine and much more depending on each day and season. Please be at the meeting point 10 minutes before the tour starts.

Food Tour ticket: TBD, meeting point at the main entrance at Harpa Concert Hall. The guide for the food tour has a blue backpack!

Day 3 Aug 24 Reykjavik Marathon and Half Marathon

Good luck and have fun during the Marathon and don´t remember to enjoy the city festival, Culture Night after the race.

Day 4 Aug 25 Golden Circle

At 09:00, your private driver guide will pick you up from the hotel. Our first stop is Þingvellir National Park, the area is known for unbelievable beauty and history. It´s where the Vikings established the parliament in the year 930 and where a rift valley is being created by the drift of two tectonic plates, the North American and the Eurasian plates. We then continue to the Greenhouse farm Friðheimar where we will have lunch. After lunch we drive towards Langjökull glacier for a more scenic view. On the way back we stop at Gullfoss waterfall and then at Geysir hot-spring and witness the hot spring Strokkur erupt water 25-35 meters into the air. Overnight at Hotel Geysir

Day 5 Aug 26 Hekla volcano – remoteness – Háifoss waterfall

We drive towards Hekla Volcano through Þjórsárdalur valley. Our first stop is Hjálparfoss waterfall. From there we will visit Stöng. At Stöng you will see the ruins of a real Viking Age farm. The farm was one of 22 farms that were destroyed during the Hekla volcano eruption in 1104. From there we go on a hike towards Háifoss waterfall, Iceland´s highest waterfall. We arrive at the waterfall through a canyon to see the waterfall from the canyon floor. Two different ways to choose from, the longer one is 6,5 km each way and the other 2,3 km. From Háifoss we drive towards Hekla volcano to see the unique volcanic landscape. Arriving at our accommodation in the late afternoon.

Day 6 Aug 27 South Coast of Iceland – ATV tour

After breakfast we start to explore the South Coast of Iceland, we visit Seljalandsfoss, Gljúfrabúi and Skógafoss waterfalls and Reynisfjara black sand beach. The activity for the day is a private 2 hour ATV tour on the black sand beach where you will be crossing small rivers on the way. The black lava sand derives from previous glacial outbursts of the dormant volcano Katla. Down at the black beach we stop and enjoy the amazing view up to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier (weather dependent) and along the coast to the southernmost part of Iceland, the small peninsula Dyrhólaey. On we go along the coast to the famous aircraft wreck, from there we continue to the river Jökulsá and up to the foot of the mountain. On the return ride we follow the mountain back to the base. This tour gives you the opportunity to get in touch with the raw black lava sand landscape by the south coast, an unforgettable experience of conflicting landscapes where the nature envelopes the traveller in its warm embrace.

Arriving back at our accommodation in the late afternoon.

Day 7 Aug 28 Þórsmörk valley

On this day we head back to Reykjavík but before we leave the South coast we will explore Þórsmörk valley. This beautiful area is located in between three glaciers, Tindfjallajökull, Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull glaciers. The area is known for its beauty and the many different hiking trails found in the area. This day gives us the opportunity to go on short hikes, tailored to your needs. We also visit Gígjökull outlet glacier, it´s where the glacial flood came down during the 2010 eruption in Eyjafjallajökull glacier. In the afternoon we drive back to Reykjavík, arriving at your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 8 Aug 29 Departure and Blue Lagoon

Enjoy the morning in Reykjavík at your own pleasure, please be ready at X for your private transfer will pick you up from your hotel. Arriving at the Blue Lagoon at X, enjoy up to 2 hours in the lagoon. It´s possible to have lunch at the bistro before leaving for the airport. Departure from the Blue Lagoon no later than X.
