INTRODUCTION
The Centaur Ultra Trail Marathon mountain race is organized every year on the second weekend of May in Agria, a location close to Volos in Pelion in central Greece.
Agria is located 320 km from Athens International airport.  The race starts and finishes at the coast of Agria, the runners follow marked paths for the most part of the race, crossing sites of remarkable natural beauty. Having followed a big circular route, the athletes finish at Agria, having covered a total 3.500 meters of altitude difference. Centaur Ultra Trail Marathon is a genuine mountain race and qualifies as official criteria with 2 points for finishing, the participation in the Mont Blanc ultra trail Marathon race.


RACE INFORMATION

Maximum number of participants – 400 runners (both men and women) Date limit for registrations – 11 February 2011

Trails / Soil morphology – The biggest part of the mountain Pelion is covered with slate
by 70%, while the remaining 30% consists of limestone

Climate / Weather conditions – 20 degrees Celsius average day temperature
(lowest 9 at night and higher 24,9 at noon)
61% average monthly humidity, 29 mm rainfall

Age limit to participate – Over 18 years

Athletes’ insurance includes - Loss of life due to accident, Permanent total disability due to accident, Accidental dismemberment due to accident, Medical expenses due to accident

Race Route – Race starts 06.00 from Agria and finishes at Agria at 20.00. The total time limit to finish the race is 14 hours. The starting line of the race is located at the main road of Agria village, next to the beach. The route follows signed paths at the Pelion Mountain, a wonder of nature. The route starts from the sea level Agria village and goes on running through higher villages. The higher point is at the middle of the race at 1451 meters and then the route goes on running down, finishing at the sea level Agria village. The route pass through traditional mountain villages, Drakia village, Agios Lavrentios village, Agios Georgios, the Pelion ski facilities, Chania village. The whole race route is a big cycle and the runners finish after covering a total 3.500 meters elevation difference.

PROGRAM


Day 1 – Thursday May, 5th  2011:

Arrival in Agria, Pelion.

(Transfers available, if requested from Athens or Thessaloniki Duration of transfer:
From Athens: 4 hours (354 km)
From Thessaloniki: 2 hours & 45 minutes (216 km)

 Accommodation 4 nights on bed and breakfast basis in 4 or 3 star hotel


Day 2 – Friday May, 6th 2011:

Training Facilities
There will be provided for the runners three different training sessions. 1st session at Tuesday 03 May 2011
2nd session at Thursday 05 May 2011 3rd session at Friday 06 May 2011.
Each training session costs $35 USD per person and includes the transfer, the professional training run at certain points of the routes
