ROUND RAROTONGA ROAD RUN PROGRAM OF EVENTS

Thursday 22 September - 5KM FUN RUN

The 5km event is a great way to meet the other participants.. For the 2011 5km Fun Run, all runners are encouraged to dress up ~ the theme is "Go tropo" - Bring the brightest, loudest most bizarre piece of apparel you can get your hands on for it could win you a weekend to Aitutaki.
Final Registrations and hand-over of Race Numbers will be done directly after the fun run.

Friday 23th September - REST

This is a free day - You may wish to take the opportunity to leisurely discover this special place. The best way to do this is to take an Optional Circle Island Tour of Rarotonga.
For Dinner tonight, the Edgewater Resort will prepare a Special High Carb. dinner for all participants and supporters at the Spaghetti house. Reservations are essential.

Saturday 24 September - MAIN EVENT EDGEWATER ROUND RAROTONGA ROAD RUN

Race Day- Those staying at the Edgewater Resort, a complimentary shuttle will depart from the Hotel at 4.45am.

The event will start from the Punanganui Market Place in Avarua at 5.30am with the traditional blessings and the adrenalin pumping sounds of the Cook Islands drums. The 10km Run/Walk and the Round the Island Walk will also start. Official timing will end with the last person crossing the line.

Sunday 25 September - PRIZE GIVING DINNER

This is a day of rest in the Cook Islands with limited activities available. We recommend that everyone attend a Sunday church service where you can enjoy the distinctive traditional hymns of the Cook Islands. You can then relax in the revitalising waters of our lagoons or enjoy a leisurely lunch at the Edgewater Resort.

The Official Prize Giving Ceremony and Dinner will be held from 6.30pm at the Edgewater Resort. Prizes for First Man / First Woman across the line, First Team across the line, First Local Man / Local Woman, Youngest / Oldest Runner, Best Dressed Runner, Best Dressed Water Station, etc will be presented on the night. Monday 26 September - HASH HOUSE HARRIERS BIRTHDAY RUN

The local Hash House Harriers scheduled birthday run will get underway at 530pm from the Edgewater Resort. The Theme is Pareu (Sarongs) � again look for the loudest pareu you can find and register for the Run

Tuesday 27 September - ROUND THE ROCK RELAY

The 2011 Round the Rock Relay was certainly an eye opener with over 30 teams of 10 runners each relaying around the island. This year we will be limiting the number to alleviate the traffic congestion we experienced this year - so registrations will be on a first come first served basis for the first 20 teams. If you are considering entering a team, please send your registration details to us as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. The event will start from the Edgewater Resort starting at 4pm followed by a Sausage Sizzle BBQ and non alcoholic drinks at the Edgewater Resort tennis courts.

Wednesday 28 September - COCO BAR NUTTERS CROSS ISLAND RUN

This run starts at 4.30pm from the site of the Royal Takitumu Resort and heads over mountain ridges, across rugged valleys and riverbeds down to the Avatiu Coastline. This run is not for the fainthearted and with the record is still unbeaten at 45 minutes.
